Restorative Conflict Management for Leaders
Managing conflict is hard, and leaders -- managers at work, teachers in a classroom, team leads of all kinds -- have to manage conflict all the time. This course teaches leaders how to do that effectively using a proven restorative-first approach to facilitating meaningful resolutions to conflict.
The skills are transferable to many contexts - the workplace, the classroom, or even the family - because they are designed to equip leaders to respond to conflict in whatever situation they are in.
Craig, the instructor of this course, has been professionally managing conflict and conduct for nearly two decades. He has implemented restorative justice-based student conduct systems at multiple higher education institutions, and he has seen thousands of conflicts and conduct cases over his career. Throughout that time, he refined a restorative-first approach to managing conflict and conduct issues, and in 2018, he started teaching others this approach at places like the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Langara College, and more. This training was met with rave reviews - you can see our full assessment results here.
We have taken that in-person training and turned into to an accessible, easy to use online course. This course teaches you a step by step, restorative-first approach to addressing conflict as a leader. It covers Restorative Justice basics, the three main philosophical approaches to conduct management, power and fairness, and what you need to know about administrative justice. Leaders find themselves being called on to resolve conflicts regularly, and this course is designed to give you the skills you need to do that effectively. The video below is from our first module and provides an overview of what you are learning in this course.
Your learning will be self paced, but you’ll be able to connect with Craig during scheduled sessions, and our Course Facilitator Teryn through our live chat platform on the bottom right of your screen during business hours.. Teryn is a professional educator with over a decade of experience teaching others, and both Craig and Teryn are here to support your learning.
